I grabbed this little guy out in service. Luckily, there are no venomous snakes here in the DR (or at least thats what they tell me).
One of the sisters in the hall really loves snakes and wouldn´t stop until I gave it to her.

What I Have Been Up To Lately
This is the house of a sister in the congregation named Sisa. (actually, I have no idea how to spell her name, as it is Haitian. It is pronounced like the letter "C" followed by "sa"). She is a regular pioneer, but has no family in the area. Last year, just before I got here the first trip, her house had to be torn down because, well, it was basically falling down already from termite damage. So for the past year and a half we have been working on it piece by piece as she gets the money to work on it, and she has been living with friends in the congregation. I don´t think they did anything while I was back in the states. But here last month she got enough to at least put the roof on it.
As you can see, there is a long, long way to go yet.
But I think it will be worth it.

The Happy New Family
Here is a picture of the happy new family, as requested. The littlest one is cute, he has been going around telling everyone his new last name.
On a completely unrelated note, anyone know any good home-remedies for wasp stings? I got hit on my ankle while on my bike, and now my whole ankle is half stiff and sore.

Check in
Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know I´m doing well. I had some other things to show you, but for some reason, the computer will not let me upload anything right now. So you will just have to wait.
Sorry

It was a nice day for a wedding
I went to my first Dominican wedding here last weekend. Wow. I think the best way to sum it up is ¨Half-baked¨. I was unlucky enough to have been helping out with the whole thing, and it was quite an adventure. Getting the location ready for the wedding involved working with machetes. The day of the wedding, I spent over 14 hours there helping get things ready. It just seemed like nothing went as planed. But in the end, even though they kinda stumble through the proceedings, making changes on the fly (for example to cover the fact that none of the food was ready yet, and when it was, only then did we discover that we had no plates, cups, ect) I think that it all turned out ok.
I was in charge of the sound for the wedding, and to dance we had my computer hot-wired into a dinosaur of a sound system, complete with a record player, and that hooked into what were literally car speakers we put up in the roof. I felt like MacGyver. But it all came out fine.
I hope so anyways.
